Lots of cheer, smiley faces, stands with anything from tasty doughnuts to first aid demonstrations. Children couldn't miss Santa either, who kept his promise to visit them this year too courtesy of Brady's of Shankill.
Among the many stands, an impressive educational value was added by three of them, namely the Suicide of Survive, Shankill & Ballybrack CFR and SAGE Shankill.
At the Suicide and Survive stand you could not only find lots of Christmas goodies for sale on a very colourful and well decorated stand, but also find out that this charity supports everyone who has had to deal with mental health, promoting an approach based on dignity and respect in their service. As a plus, you could also enter their raffle to be in with the chance to win one of the huge hampers exhibited.
The most practical stand at the event was the Shankill & Ballybrack CFR one, where everyone who wanted was shown how to provide CPR. Very useful and educational at the same time.
Did you know that you can build little houses for bees this winter and help save the planet? You can do your bit for our planet every day; this is what I learnt from the lovely volunteers at the SAGE Shankill stand. At times like this, it is good to be reminded that Christmas is not only a day for us and our families, but for our host planet, who needs us now more than ever.
These are only a few of the great stands you could visit at Christmas in the Village 2018, but all of them provided great coverage of everything Shankill has to offer locally in a colourful and cheerful Christmassy atmosphere.

Couldn't attend this event this November? Make sure you don't miss it next year. This is for the simple reason that it gets better and better every year. It's both fun and educational, so make sure that next year you have this on your to-do-for-fun list.
